Women and children are believed to be on board an asylum seeker boat off the West Australian coast, a refugee advocacy group claims.
Refugee Action Coalition spokesman Ian Rintoul said the people on the boat off Dampier had made contact with the Vietnamese community and were seeking legal advice regarding any challenge that could be launched if authorities sought to return them.
"Discussions are happening now," Mr Rintoul told AAP.
