Money laundering, terrorism and cybercrime are on the agenda for Justice Minister Michael Keenan as he visits China over the coming week.

The cabinet minister will meet counterparts in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen for a series of talks aimed at strengthening law enforcement ties and combating transnational crime.

He will also learn how China has been countering violent extremism and preventing radicalisation with its counter-terrorism laws.

"It is more important than ever that we, as an international community, continue to work together to combat the threat from extremists whilst rejecting those who seek to impose their world view on others through intimidation and violence," Mr Keenan told AAP in a statement.

During the visit, Australia's financial crime fighting unit AUSTRAC and the Chinese anti-money laundering centre will sign an agreement to share more intelligence to help their efforts.
