China can cope with transition: Hockey

Despite ongoing volatility in the Chinese stock market Treasurer Hockey said the fundamentals of China's economy remained relatively strong.

China's ability to deal with a transition phase in its economy has the absolute confidence of Treasurer Joe Hockey.

Despite ongoing stockmarket volatility Mr Hockey says the fundamentals of China's economy remains relatively strong.

"The Chinese government has tools available to it to strengthen the Chinese economy that most other countries in the world would be jealous of," he told The Wall Street Journal in an online video posted on August 26.
