Chinese Australians call for apology

The Chinese-Australian community is calling for an apology from the federal government for the poor treatment of Chinese migrants during the imposition of the White Australia policy.

The policy remained in place until 1973.

The president of the Chinese Heritage Association of Australia says both New Zealand and Canada have already apologised to their Chinese communities.
