Choir of Hard Knocks set for national tour

The Choir of Hard Knocks, which began in Melbourne for people experiencing disadvantage, is marking its 10-year anniversary.

The choir that inspired the hit TV series, Choir of Hard Knocks, is marking its 10-year anniversary by hitting the road for its first national tour.

The choir began in Melbourne under the leadership of Jonathan Welch, specifically for people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage.

It went onto become the subject of an ABC documentary, record two CDs and win an ARIA Award.

To celebrate the announcement, the choir will do an impromptu performance at Flinders Street Station at 11am on Thursday, the same spot the choir first performed in 2006.

* The tour begins next March with concerts in Sydney, Perth, Tasmania, Alice Springs, Uluru, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Melbourne.
