Chris Brown has bipolar disorder

Chris Brown has been diagnosed with Bipolar II, PTSD and sleep deprivation, according to a report filed by his rehab facility.

Chris Brown has reportedly been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The musician just completed 95 days of rehab to treat anger management issues. He was in court on Friday for a progress hearing related to his 2009 Rihanna assault case.

Paperwork from the facility was filed as part of the hearing, which detail the issues Brown has been dealing with.

"Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD," wrote the rehab facility, according to TMZ.

The outlet reports Brown was diagnosed with Bipolar II, and there was no explanation given as to the cause of the PTSD.

The treatment centre also revealed the singer had been "self-medicating inappropriately".

In the letter submitted to court, it was revealed Brown is taking medication to treat the bipolar disorder and is using relaxation techniques to help with anger issues. He also underwent testing and came out negative for all drugs, including marijuana.

The treatment facility make a point of saying Brown has been making exceptional progress and they are more than happy with his behaviour while in treatment. The 24-year-old apparently got up at 5am every day and worked hard, taking all his duties seriously.

"Mr. Brown's attitude has been beyond exemplary in regard to his community service responsibilities," read the letter.

A California judge has ordered Brown to remain in an anger-management rehab program and return to court in two months after he allegedly punched a man called Parker Adams in October.

Brown is also on probation for his 2009 attack on then-girlfriend, Rihanna.
