Three months after his infamous interview with Australian television presenter Mel McLaughlin, West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle has named his first daughter Blush.

Gayle took to both Instagram and Twitter on Thursday to confirm the naming, while also making it clear he hadn't forgotten the specifics of his awkward boundary interview during the Big Bash League.

"Thank you all for the sweet and kind messages. Blush won't Blush, my baby," he tweeted.

The Caribbean Premier League, his sponsors Spartan and India captain Virat Kohli all tweeted to congratulate him, while also mentioning the name `Blush', indicating Gayle was not merely pulling a social media stunt.

In January, Gayle told McLaughlin "don't blush, baby" after he awkwardly suggested they "should go out for a drink" after his match for the Melbourne Renegades.

Gayle's advances were met with widespread criticism, and he was fined $10,000 for his remarks.

Later, he labelled it a simple joke and offered a quick apology while noting the ordeal had "blown way out of proportion".

Meanwhile, the powerful West Indian opener will miss the next two games of the Indian Premier League for the Royal Challengers Bangalore after he flew home to be with his partner Natasha for the birth.
