Big-hitting Brisbane rookie Max Bryant doesn't say much but his captain Chris Lynn is happy for his bat to keep doing the talking.
The Gold Coast teenager has looked the part at the top of the Heat's order this season, with a best of 44 and only one score below 18 in seven knocks.
His pure striking has impressed Lynn, who was well aware of Bryant's easy power after a record innings of 71 from just 31 balls for Queensland in the one-day tournament last year.
Lynn, who finds himself second on the BBL run-scorers' list this season, said the 19-year-old had done all that was asked of him this season despite not kicking on for a big score.
"With a guy going at the other end like Brendon McCullum he might be feeling the heat a little bit to keep up," he said.
"But that was his role at start of year, if he's doing that at bare minimum I'll be pretty happy when he gets those 70s, 80s and 100s."
Bryant has been short and sharp when interviewed on the boundary rope this season and Lynn said it was no different in the nets.
"He doesn't get out of first gear at training either, doesn't say too much," he said.
"That's the beauty about him, he keeps to himself, knows his game plan, stays still at the crease and makes it look like they're in slow motion when they're bowling to him.
"We knew why we'd signed him and the impact he'd have."
Lynn's Heat host the Sydney Thunder on Thursday night and, after a 0-3 start to the season, can jump into the top four with a win.
Omitted from Australia's one-day squad to face India, Lynn is happy with his form but isn't thinking about a recall ahead of the 50-over World Cup.
"That's a while away, there's so much cricket to be played before that," he said of his international hopes.
"I feel alright personally, but there's no point scoring plenty of runs and not winning.
"I want to make sure they're match-winning runs."
