American Chris Stroud has a one-stroke lead going into the final round of the Puerto Rico Open.
Stroud fired a five-under-par 67 to be 15 under for the tournament and one stroke clear of compatriots DA Points and Bill Lunde who both shot 69.
Englishman Andrew Johnston fired a six under round to be one of six players sitting two shots off the lead.
The 35-year-old Stroud declared it was time for him to win a US PGA Tour event after 276 starts.
He came close with a playoff loss in Hartford in 2013, but has never lifted a trophy.
Despite career earnings of nearly $US10 million ($A13 million), he is far from satisfied.
"I feel like I'm way overdue," the Texan told the Golf Channel after making birdie at the par-five 18th at Coco Beach.
"At this point I've got experience on my side. I was very calm today. Nothing really freaks me out."
With such a tightly-bunched leaderboard, Stroud knows he will need to attack on Sunday (Monday AEDT).
"I'm going to try to get to 20 under or more," he said.
"With these conditions you've got to make a lot of birdies. It's not one of those golf courses you can sit around and make pars."
Cameron Percy is the best of the Australians after shooting a third round of five under to be nine under and tied 26th.
