Dan Christian is the only Australian set to take part in South Africa's new Twenty20 league.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has finalised plans for its Super League, a year after embarrassingly having to cancel its first attempt at a franchise-based competition because of a lack of sponsors and broadcast partners.
There was speculation earlier this year that the Super League would hunt the signatures of banned Australian stars Steve Smith and David Warner.
But Smith, who was heckled and hounded out of Johannesburg airport after copping his year-long ban, and Warner, whose family was verbally abused during this year's spiteful Test series, were always going to be reluctant to return to the scene of their life-changing mistakes.
Smith and Warner will instead continue to focus on grade cricket in Sydney.
Christian, the veteran allrounder who will play for Melbourne Renegades during this summer's Big Bash League, was drafted by the Jozi Stars for 750,000 South African rand (approximately $A74,000).
South Africa's T20 league is set to run from November 15 to December 16.
It clashes with the Sheffield Shield, meaning there was also going to be limited Australian representation.
Notable internationals taking part in South Africa's T20 league include Englishmen Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy and Dawid Malan plus West Indies veterans Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo.
The international marquee players will miss the start of the tournament because of other commitments.
AB de Villiers, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla, Kagiso Rabada and Quinton de Kock headline the local talent involved.
