Christine Holgate named new Australia Post chief

Blackmores chief Christine Holgate will replace Ahmed Fahour as the new boss of Australia Post.

Blackmores chief and Collingwood board member Christine Holgate has been named Australia Post's new boss.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull had hinted at the appointment while speaking to the football club's president Eddie McGuire on Melbourne's Triple M.

"It is a great Australian and a great hire," he said earlier today, noting Mr McGuire was first with the mail.

Ms Holgate will start in the position on September 29.

Blackmores confirmed the departure in a statement today.

Ms Holgate led the natural healthcare company for nine years, guiding it through a period of growth and expansion in China.
