Christopher Pyne denies using 'c-bomb' in Question Time

Christopher Pyne has denied using an obscenity against Opposition Leader Bill Shorten during Question Time.

Social media has gone into meltdown over the widely circulated video, which shows the Education Minister issuing an insult across the chamber on Wednesday.

His office has since stated that the Minister called Mr Shorten a “grub”.
Another video, available on The Sydney Morning Herald, sounds different to its counterpart available on YouTube, attracting suggestions the other may have been doctored.

The insult – whatever it may have been – was quickly withdrawn by Mr Pyne.

While the alleged vulgarity has been uttered once or twice within the Parliament, the slur of “grub” is far more common – even the Speaker of the House has been reprimanded for its use in the past.

Brownyn Bishop interjected with the insult during a debate on carbon pricing in 2011, while she also lashed out with the insult in 2008.

Former MP Sophie MIrabella also tried it out on now Anthony Albanese in 2010.

It's also a favourite among Labor politicians such as Anthony Albanese and Julia Irwin.

“Grub” was trending across Twitter as Question Time began on Thursday as people continued to have some fun at both Mr Pyne’s and Mr Shorten's expense.
Speculation remains among some, but our suggestion – wait for Hansard.
