Cigarettes banned for under 21s in US

The Massachusetts Senate has voted in favour of lifting the minimum age of buying cigarettes to 21.

The minimum age for buying cigarettes in Massachusetts in the US has been lifted to 21 years.

The Massachusetts Senate voted overwhelmingly in favour of the raise to the minimum age on Thursday, making it the second state to raise the age in the US.

Hawaii became the first state to raise the legal age to 21 last year.
