CIMIC Group has nabbed the $278 million contract to expand Hong Kong's international airport.

The international contractor's company, Leighton Asia, will deliver the Terminal 1 Annex Building and expansion of Carpark 4, with work due for completion in 2019.

The project will include the construction of a seven-storey building at Terminal 1, with associated new check-in counters, baggage carousels, departure security screening channels and departure immigration.

There is also an 11-storey structure planned.

Leighton Asia managing director Roman Garrido says the company has a strong record of successfully delivering projects in busy, live environments.

CIMIC Group shares were down four cents to $35.98 on the Australian share market at 1024 AEST.
