CIMIC gets $250 mln Surat basin contract

CIMIC's Leighton Contractors unit will set up gas infrastructure for BG Group's QGC unit in Queensland's Surat basin.

Construction giant CIMIC's Leighton Contractors unit has secured a contract from Queensland Gas company (QGC) for setting up gas infrastructure in Queensland's Surat basin.

The contract with the BG Group's QGC unit will generate revenue of around $250 million over the 18 months, CIMIC says.

Construction for the project is expected to begin in late 2015, and end in 2017.

Leighton earlier secured a $300 million contract from Australia Pacific LNG for gas field development works in the Surat basin.
