Labor says Malcolm Turnbull must release the full report of the review he ordered into the national broadband network.

The federal opposition is calling on Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull to immediately release the government's strategic review of the national broadband network (NBN).

Labor communications spokesman Jason Clare says the NBN report was delivered to Mr Turnbull on Monday.

"Today is D-day for Malcolm Turnbull's plan to roll out a second-rate NBN," Mr Clare told reporters in Canberra.

"It's on his desk today and he should release that report. He should release the whole report."

The coalition plans to deliver a fibre-to-the-node NBN, a slower but less expensive version of Labor's fibre-to-the-home plan.
