The Australian television industry will pay tribute to John Clarke and Reg Grundy at next week's Logie Awards.

Master satirist Clarke died suddenly last weekend after collapsing while hiking in the Grampians National Park in Victoria at the age of 68.

While his career spanned decades, the New Zealand-born Clarke was perhaps best known for lampooning Australian politicians and bureaucratic life with long-term collaborator Bryan Dawe in deadpan mock interviews.

Clarke worked on the 1980s sketch comedy TV series The Gillies Report, was a regular on ABC radio, the ABC's 7.30 program, the Nine Network's A Current Affair and also co-wrote the drama mini-series ANZACs.

He was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame in 2008.

Australian television pioneer and media mogul Reg Grundy died, aged 92, on May 6 last year at his Bermuda estate.

News of his death came as the industry was celebrating its annual awards night, the Logies.

Grundy started his career developing radio show Wheel of Fortune, which later was adapted for television in 1959.

By the late 1970s, his company had purchased game-show formats, including the enduring Sale of the Century.

He also developed a host of Australian TV dramas including Prisoner, The Young Doctors, The Restless Years, Sons and Daughters and Neighbours.

TV Week says the tributes for both men will be stirring.

The Logies will be held at Melbourne's Crown Casino on Sunday April 23.
