Clarke to play grade cricket again

Michael Clarke will again play Sydney grade cricket for Western Suburbs this summer, this time playing the first three matches of the season.

Michael Clarke is to return to cricket with his Sydney grade club Western Suburbs in a move that could lead to a Big Bash League debut.

The former Australian captain will play the opening three one-dayers of the Sydney Premier Cricket competition, beginning on September 24.

He is yet to announce whether he will play in this summer's Big Bash League, after he met with Cricket NSW in May to discuss his playing future.

He played one club match for Western Suburbs in February, scoring 48 and 30, before heading to Hong Kong as the marquee player at their inaugural T20 Blitz.

He also brought back with him Nepalese legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane, who was the second-leading wicket-taker at this year's under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh, and will now play for Western Suburbs.

Clarke's three matches will be played at Allan Border Oval, Petersham Oval and Old Kings Oval, with Wests' home ground of Pratten Park out of action until the end of October.
