Climate protest in PM's Sydney electorate

A former Liberal leader will be among a group of protesters to call for further action on climate change action in Malcom Turnbull's seat.

Climate change protesters, including a former Liberal leader, will descend on the prime minister's federal Sydney seat as the party's election campaign is launched in the city's west.

Dr John Hewson, who was Liberal leader in the early 1990s, will address the crowd when they gather at a Double Bay park about 11am on Sunday.

He says he'll use the opportunity in his old seat of Wentworth to call for bipartisan and increased action on climate change.

"It's far too important an issue to be subject to short-term political point scoring," he said.
