A group of four climate scientists from prominent international institutions have signed an open letter calling on environmentalists to support the expansion of nuclear power generation.
The scientists, including Tom Wigley from the University of Adelaide and the National Centre for Atmospheric Research, say renewable energy sources can't replace fossil fuels fast enough to stablise climate change.
Professor Wigley has told Murray Silby that continued oppostion to nuclear power is threatening humanity's ability to avoid dangerous climate change.
