Climate, super a must for summit: Bowen

Shadow treasurer Chris Bowen says Thursday's mini-summit with the prime minister must discuss superannuation and climate change policies.

Shadow treasurer Chris Bowen believes for Malcolm Turnbull's mini-summit to have any credibility, superannuation tax concessions and climate change must be on the table for discussion.

Mr Bowen told reporters in Melbourne that many believed high income super concessions were unfair and unsustainable, while Mr Turnbull "in his heart of hearts" doesn't believe in his own government's climate policy and that there should be a market-based mechanism to deal with it.

The prime minister will host business, union and community leaders on Thursday to discuss opportunities to grow the economy on the back of an earlier privately-sponsored reform gathering.
