Embattled MP Clive Palmer appears to have kicked off his election campaign with an online advert painting the federal politician as a "political prisoner".

Published to social media by the Palmer Party United Party the video features a ominous voice-over and graphics  labeling the billionaire as someone under "trial by media".

"Everyone's entitled to a fair trial in Australia, unless you're Clive Palmer," the narrator says in the video.

"They'll stop as nothing to get him out of government," it goes on to say before flashing onto the screen a list "real achievements" which include many of the failed policies announced in the 2014 Federal Budget but blocked by the Senate.
The video credits "Committee of Free Speech, Brisbane" as authorising the campaign.
