Labor won't back a motion aimed at blocking changes to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, instead striking a deal with the Turnbull government for greater checks and balances.

The Australian Greens will seek to block government changes to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan in the Senate on Tuesday.

However, the Labor caucus on Monday voted not to support the disallowance motion.
