Coconut drink recalled over milk content

A coconut drink has been recalled over concerns its milk content is not declared on the label and could be consumed by people with dairy intolerance.

A coconut drink has been recalled over concerns the undeclared presence of milk in the product could harm people with a dairy allergy or intolerance.

The NSW Food Authority said food importer Narkena Pty Ltd had recalled Green Time Natural Coconut Drink because its milk content was not declared on the label.

"People with an allergy or intolerance to dairy should not consume this product, due to the presence of milk," the authority said in a statement on Friday.

It said there had been one reported case of an adverse allergic reaction with the product.

Consumers are advised to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The product of Taiwan is sold in Asian grocery stores and small independent supermarkets in NSW, ACT, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.

Narkena Pty Ltd business manager Perry Wu told AAP the problem was just with the labels and the company would look at relaunching the product with labelling that showed the milk content.

He said 1300 cartons of the coconut drink had been imported since last June.
