Palestinians gather around a fire to warm themselves inside a makeshift shelter in the northern Gaza Strip.

There's concern about how severe winter weather conditions are affecting residents made homeless by the recent conflict in Gaza.

An international aid agency says snow, rain and strong winds are battering the region, causing difficulty for thousands of people in areas devastated in last year's 50-day war with Israel.

Action Aid says the cold is threatening to deepen the misery in parts of the Palestinian territory, where streets are still strewn with wreckage and reconstruction efforts have been slow.

Spokesman Mike Noyse spoke to Zara Zaher.
