Concern in Afghanistan over cuts to AFP assistance

Afghan police officers and human rights advocates have expressed concern over the federal government's plans to cut Australian Federal Police assistance in Afghanistan.

Afghan police officers and human rights advocates have expressed concern over the federal government's plans to cut Australian Federal Police assistance in Afghanistan.

The coalition has maintained aid to Afghanistan at $130-million but it's pulled the AFP's support from the country.

The AFP has been training the Afghan police, including programs around violence against women and girls.

The Director of the Afghan Women Educational Centre, is Zulaikha Rafiq.

She's told Zara Zaher the AFP plays a significant role in Afghanistan and should remain for an extended period.
