Malcolm Turnbull has phoned his New Zealand counterpart to congratulate her on news she is expecting her first child.
Jacinda Ardern announced on Friday she will become a parent in 2018 - news described as wonderful by the Australian prime minister.
"When we spoke this morning you sounded more excited than you did when you won the election! Lots of love and best wishes from me and Lucy and all of us across the ditch," Mr Turnbull tweeted.
