Former Australian international Trent Copeland will miss NSW's Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia so he can work as a bowling analyst during the Test series with India.

Copeland, 32, will join the Seven Network with Cricket NSW's blessing ahead of Thursday's first Test at the Adelaide Oval.

Cricket NSW chief executive Andrew Jones said the organisation fully supported Copeland in his decision to stand down from the Blues squad.

"He approached us during the pre-season and we believe this is a wonderful opportunity for Trent," Jones said.

"We look after our players on and off the field and are happy to support him in this exciting endeavour."

Copeland's departure means left-arm quick Greg West could make his debut when NSW play their round six clash against South Australia at the SCG from Friday.

West has claimed 12 wickets at an average of 25.08 for ACT/NSW Country in the Toyota Futures League so far this season.

Legspinner Daniel Fallins also replaces Test spinner Nathan Lyon, who was played a pivotal role as NSW beat Western Australia in Perth during the previous round.

Fallins, who played against Victoria in round two, claimed two wickets and made 43 runs in his most recent outing for a Cricket Australia XI against India at the SCG last week.

NSW are currently second on the Sheffield Shield standings behind Victoria.

NSW squad: Peter Nevill (capt), Sean Abbott, Harry Conway, Jack Edwards, Daniel Fallins, Moises Henriques, Daniel Hughes, Nick Larkin, Stephen O'Keefe, Kurtis Patterson, Jason Sangha, Greg West.
