Cops plead with SA drivers after crashes

South Australian drivers have been urged by police to slow down on the state's roads and drive safely, after three men died in separate road crashes.

Three men have died in separate crashes in South Australia in a horror few hours on the state's roads with police urging people to drive safely.

A 20-year-old man was killed in a single car rollover near rural Bordertown shortly before midnight on Saturday.

Hours later a motorbike carrying two people crashed at Osborne in Adelaide's west.

A 19-year-old man from Lower Mitcham died at the scene shortly after 2.30am on Sunday.

The other rider, a 17-year-old boy from Taperoo, was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.

Less than four hours later, a car left the road and crashed into a tree at Yattalunga in Adelaide's north.

The driver, a 42-year-old Williamstown man, died at the scene at Gawler-One Tree Road.

Detective Inspector Campbell Hill said it was a "tragic night" leaving four families devastated.

"One overnight is a tragedy and bad enough but three overnight is a significant impact, it's devastating for the families involved," Det Insp Hill told reporters on Sunday.

He said police could only share the road safety message so many times, with drivers urged to do their part and be safe on the state's roads.

"They (drivers) need to understand that it's not just about them getting home and what they're doing, it's about their passengers and it's about the other road users," he said.

"Regardless of the weather or time of the year, it can be dangerous to drive on the road and we implore people to be mindful about how they are driving."

Three reports will be prepared for the coroner.

The deaths take SA's road toll to 39 for the year.
