Cops revisit cold case Adelaide murder

SA Police say DNA evidence linked to the 1991 murder of 25-year-old Yasmin Sinodinos is set to be re-examined.

DNA evidence related to the 1991 murder of a mother-of-three in Adelaide is set to be re-examined as police maintain there is only one suspect in their sights.

The battered body of 25-year-old Yasmin Sinodinos was discovered in scrub at Tea Tree Gully on December 1991, and a man was found not guilty of her murder in 2014.

But South Australian police say advances in DNA technology mean they are revisiting evidence associated with the murder.

"We are taking advice from SA scientists on how to best achieve the best possible information with regard to the DNA evidence associated with the case," Detective Sergeant Anthony van der Stelt said on Sunday.

"There was a significant body of DNA evidence in the trial, some of which was very strong, and some of which wasn't as strong as we hoped it might be."

Sgnt van der Stelt added it was possible for someone to be retried in the state if a court found there was fresh and compelling evidence.

"Police have to respect the fact that he has been acquitted and retains the presumption of innocence, however he remains our only suspect in this case," he said.

A $200,000 reward is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Ms Sinodinos' murder.
