The leader of the Middle East's largest Christian minority has died in Egypt, leaving behind a nervous community at a time of sectarian tensions.
88-year-old Pope Shenouda III had led Egypt's estimated eight million Coptic Christians for four decades.
The head of the church in Australian Bishop Suriel, said Pope Shenouda was a leader in Christian unity.
'It's very sad news for us because he's been our patriach for over fourty years', Sureil told SBS.
