A coroner has decided to cut the number of witnesses to give evidence at the inquest into the Lindt Cafe siege.

 SBS World News reporter Alyshia Gates told Greg Dyett, the coroner has accepted arguments in favour of drawing the inquest to a conclusion sooner rather than later.
