Queensland's state coroner is due to hand down his findings on the death of an Indigenous man after he was restrained by police during a violent, drug-induced episode.

An internal police investigation cleared officers of misconduct and negligence over Shaun Coolwell, 33, who died on October 2, 2015.

The coroner has been told that police and paramedics were called to a Kingston home, south of Brisbane, after he began banging his head on a bathroom floor and doorframe, yelling and turning hot water on and off.

He was placed in a prone position and restrained with handcuffs so he would not be able to further hurt himself or those trying to treat him.

To calm him down, paramedics injected a sedative.
Then there were concerns about his vital signs and paramedics tried to revive him but he was unresponsive and was taken to Logan Hospital, where he later died.

Two constables told the inquest in March, 2018 they did everything they could to help Mr Coolwell when they arrived and found him "uncontrollable", bleeding and incoherent.

"I still believe that it was in Mr Coolwell's best interest to be restrained at the time," Constable Tamzin Zarycki said.

"He was unclothed at the time, he was face down on the floor."

Two autopsies found there were multiple possible contributors to Mr Coolwell's death, including amphetamine use, a poor heart condition, the sedative and restraint, and his delirium at the time..

Coroner Terry Ryan is expected to hand down his findings in Brisbane on Monday.
