Fringe Australian paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile has been taken to hospital after suffering an attack of vertigo during a Big Bash League game.

Coulter-Nile sank the ground after bowling his last over for the Perth Scorchers against the Adelaide Strikers on Saturday.

The fast bowler, who was selected in Australia's one-day international and Twenty20 squad to tour India from later this month, spent a few minutes on the ground attended by medical staff before being helped from the field.

The Scorchers say Coulter-Nile suffered an episode of vertigo.

"Nathan was hit with a bad bout of vertigo at the end of his final bowling over," Perth's physio Chris Quinnell said.

"He was taken to hospital after the game as a precaution and will be monitored over the next few hours."

Coulter-Nile motioned to the Scorchers' dug-out after bowling the fifth ball of an over towards the end of the contest.

After consulting with Perth captain Mitchell Marsh, Coulter-Nile delivered the sixth ball - which was hit for six by Adelaide's Harry Nielsen.

The fast bowler then noticeably wobbled before sinking to his haunches and then sitting on the ground.

Coulter-Nile had earlier been a star performer, cracking 25 runs from just eight balls including three sixes and a four before taking 2-28 from his four overs, though Adelaide won by five wickets.
