On the streets there's a feeling of enormous pride for a country which has achieved so much since winning the bid to host football's premier tournament.

South Africa's high crime rate remains a bone of contention, yet officials hope the success of past sporting events will prove to be a deterrant for the influx of international visitors.

Big business entrepeneurs are poised to benefit from the natural attractions South Africa has to offer.

Not so small business operators who are afraid of being sidelined during the month-long festival.

Either way, the beuracrats will tell you it's been money well spent.

And while world football's hierarchy revel in the excitement, immediate thoughts are for the well-being of South Africa's number one ticket-holder and frail 91 year-old former president.

South Africa host Namibia tomorrow to mark the 100-day countdown.
