A couple in the US is lucky to be alive after a tree crashed on their car Sunday.

The man and woman had just pulled into their driveway, in Oregan, when the one-hundred foot tall tree uprooted and toppled onto the car.

Fire chief, Troy Buzalsky, says their escape was remarkable.

“They must have had a bright light shining down on them because if you look at the passenger compartment, especially the drivers compartment, there's a space for about two loaves of bread in there”

The couple suffered minor injures and climbed out of the car window with the help of fire fighters.

Experts say a combination of wet weather, loose soil and root failure caused the tree to come down.
