Court orders warrant for serial rapist's arrest after release

Serial Queensland sex offender Robert Fardon was today released from Wacol prison but a warrant for his arrest has since been issued.

Queensland's Court of Appeal has ordered a warrant be issued for the arrest of serial rapist Robert Fardon - just two hours after he was released from his cell.

Supreme Court judge Peter Lyons had earlier in the day refused Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie's application to delay Fardon's release.

Fardon has spent most of his adult life in jail for a string of sexual offences against children dating back to 1973
