AFL star Ben Cousins has emerged from Epworth Hospital in Melbourne where he was in intensive care.
Cousins has reportedly asked for an AFL durgs test he says will clear him from suspicion that illicit drugs were behind his admission to hospital.
The reported use of caffeine tablets before games and sleeping tablets after games has reignited debate over whether it's suitable for footballers to use prescribed stimulants and relaxants.
An Epworth Hospital spokeswoman yesterday said Cousins was in a stable condition and would be taken out of intensive care this morning.

Cousins was taken to hospital on Monday morning after he could not be roused.
His girlfriend contacted his AFL club Richmond when she could not wake the 32-year-old and, after he was examined by Richmond's doctor, he was taken to the Epworth Hospital by ambulance.
The club said it believed Cousins suffered an adverse reaction to a prescribed sleeping pill.
Cousins is a recovering drug addict but Richmond have ruled out the latest incident as being related to his past.
