Former Australian Test opener Ed Cowan has rebounded from a bout of concussion to be named for NSW's Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia, starting Sunday.
Cowan was forced to retire hurt after being struck on the head by a Joel Paris bouncer on Friday, and was removed from the match after being assessed by a Cricket NSW doctor.
But he trained with the Blues this week and passed a number of tests to prove his fitness for the return match at the WACA.
Captain Nic Maddinson has also overcome a thumb injury and is expected to play after scans cleared him of any serious damage earlier in the week.
Maddinson was off the field for most of the Warriors' second innings last week, but did manage to score a dogged 26 not out from 165 balls to ensure a draw for the Blues.
Stephen O'Keefe will also return for the day-night fixture, having taken 18 wickets in three matches with the pink ball.
O'Keefe has not played since injuring his calf in the Sydney Test match last month.
Uncapped paceman Nigel Cowell is the other new face in the 13-man squad, receiving his first major call up after claiming 11 wickets at 17.36 in three Future League matches this summer.
NSW Blues 13-man squad: Nic Maddinson (capt), Sean Abbott, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Carters, Trent Copeland, Nigel Cowell, Ed Cowan, Daniel Hughes, Nick Larkin, Stephen O'Keefe, Kurtis Patterson, Ben Rohrer, Gurinder Sandhu.
