North Queensland have wrapped up their NRL pre-season campaign with a 14-6 win over Melbourne in Mackay.
Both teams named strong line-ups for their final trial with ex-Brisbane duo Jordan Kahu and Josh McGuire making their first Cowboys appearances.
The Storm, meanwhile, headed north with Josh Addo-Carr, Cameron Munster, Cameron Smith, Felise Kaufusi, Kenny Bromwich and Dale Finucane all featuring in their first pre-season matches.
The crowd at BB Print Stadium had to wait over half an hour before the Cowboys opened the scoring with a Gavin Cooper try in the 32nd minute.
However North Queensland's lead only lasted five minutes, with fullback Scott Drinkwater levelling after latching on to a Munster grubber for a 6-6 scoreline at halftime.
The Cowboys went back in front in the 56th minute when some quick hands by Morgan and Cooper put Justin O'Neill in, before fellow centre Ben Hampton completed the scoring for the Cowboys with seven minutes to go.
In further bad news for the Storm, Drinkwater appears to have torn a pectoral muscle, likely ruling him out of the start of the NRL season.
