Cowboys' NRL slump about attitude: Hannant

North Queensland's worrying NRL form slump that has their back-to-back premiership hopes on the rocks is all about attitude, says veteran Ben Hannant.

Injured North Queensland forward Ben Hannant believes the Cowboys' NRL form slump is all in their heads.

North Queensland's hopes of back-to-back premierships have taken a massive hit in the past three weeks with a trio of defeats dumping the Cowboys outside of the top four.

Hannant picked up a knee injury in the round 22 loss to Wests Tigers along with hooker Jake Granville (broken hand)

Both were sorely missed in a 22-10 defeat to Sydney Roosters last weekend and Hannant says the Cowboys' poor form is down to a slip in the premiers' attitude in recent weeks.

"It was pretty obvious on the weekend and the week before that they wanted it more, they ran with more aggression and had more aggression in their defence as well," Hannant told AAP.

"For us it's an attitude thing. You can talk as much as you like but actions speak louder than words and that's what needs to happen this weekend."

Hannant's injury has come at a difficult time for the former representative forward, who is yet to secure a new deal with the Cowboys for next season.

The 31-year-old said his future is the last thing on his mind however as he aims to get himself back to full fitness for the finals.

"I leave that to my manager and the club. When all the options are there I'll make my decision," he said.

"It's one of those things that really doesn't affect what I'm doing. I'm worried about my rehab at the moment, getting back on the field and that stuff will take care of itself."
