Crash claims life of Vic pedestrian

A woman has died after being struck by a car which mounted a curb and crashed into a shop in Victoria.

A pedestrian has died after an elderly driver mounted a kerb and crashed into a Melbourne store.

Police believe an 81-year-old man was trying to park his car in an Avondale Heights carpark when he hit the accelerator, mounted the kerb and crashed into a shop just after 3pm (AEDT) on Saturday.

A female pedestrian standing outside the store was stuck by the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police remain at the scene and the driver is currently assisting police with enquires.
