New Zealand communications company Spark says it'll credit its customers for the cost of landline and mobile calls and texts to France following the horrific attacks in Paris.
The credit will apply to direct dial calls using the 00 and 0161 prefixes and texts, made from New Zealand home phones or mobile phones, to France from 9.30am (NZT) on Saturday until midnight on Thursday, the telco formerly known as Telecom says.
"We know many people will need to stay in close contact with friends and family in France over the next few days and we hope it will help in some small way to not have to worry about their phone bill at the end of the month," said Jason Paris, Spark's chief executive for home, mobile and business.
"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to the people of France, and to French citizens living in New Zealand."
The credits will be retrospectively applied to customers' accounts in either their November or December bills, depending on their bill cycle so customers do not need to do anything.
