Cricket commentating legend and former Australian captain Richie Benaud is in a stable condition after crashing his car into a brick wall.
The 83-year-old Benaud was driving home alone to Coogee, in Sydney's southeast, on Wednesday morning when his car mounted a nature strip and hit a small brick wall, the Nine Network said in a statement.
Benaud suffered chest and shoulder injuries and is expected to be hospitalised for a number of days.
"No one else was injured, and I was more worried about the car than myself," Benaud said in a statement.
Despite being in some discomfort, the former Test captain remained in "fine spirits and good humour", the network said.
