Crims help in Vic mum murder investigation

Police have fielded calls from outraged criminals willing to help their investigation of the murder of a Melbourne mother.

Criminals have offered to help police investigating the murder of a mother in her Melbourne home.

Mother-of-three Kylie Blackwood was found dead in her Pakenham home last Thursday by her 11-year-old twin daughters.

Police believe the 42-year-old may have been killed by a would-be burglar.

Earlier this week, police said a tradesman had seen a man dressed in dark clothing peering into other homes in the street.

Detective Inspector John Potter said Crime Stoppers had received about 100 calls regarding the case this week, including some from criminals.

"The sentiment expressed is `this is not right' and that the police need to catch this guy," he told reporters on Thursday.

"We would certainly offer whatever it takes for people to come forward ... including protection, anonymity."

The man police are seeking was wearing a grey-striped hooded top, dark trousers, a black cap and sunglasses.

In a notice in the Herald Sun newspaper on Thursday, Mrs Blackwood's husband Peter said the family's lives would never be the same.

"To my beautiful darling wife and best friend. My love, you have been taken so tragically from us," he said.

"Thank you for always being the most devoted loving mother to our three wonderful children.

"Our lives will never be the same again."

Mrs Blackwood's parents and siblings also paid tribute to her, saying she was "gone too soon".
