Crow warms up in top form for World Cup

Kim Crow has won her second national rowing title in two days to be in top shape for this weekend's World Cup regatta.

Sculling queen Kim Crow has added another national title to her kit bag in a superb warm-up for the start of Sydney's World Cup regatta on Friday.

Crow, who was searching for a crew mate last week, combined with fellow Victorian Phoebe Stanley to win the double sculls in convincing fashion at Penrith Lakes on Thursday.

The success followed Crow's triumph in the single scull on Wednesday and has her set to continue her recent domination of the event at an international level.

The reigning world champion is eyeing victory in her first-up World Cup heat on Friday to progress straight through to Sunday's final, where she'll face hot competition from Olympic champion Mirka Knapkova and Kiwi Emma Twigg.

Twigg finished second to Crow in the 2013 world titles in South Korea when Czech Knapkova took bronze.

The single-double double was the first time Crow has raced both small boats at the same regatta since the London Olympics, when she won silver in the double with Brooke Pratley and bronze in the single.

She is the only Australian rower preselected for the rest of the World Cup calendar, and world championships in Amsterdam in August.

The national trials in April will determine the national team and boats for the international season in Europe, but head coach Drew Ginn said this weekend's World Cup racing - which has attracted only a few top boats - could still have an influence.

"We've multiple boats in various events this weekend and for them it's a hit-out against each other and the international fields, but we certainly don't want them peaking now when we've the beginning international campaign ahead of us," Ginn said.

Another World Cup race of major interest will be the men's four, where the world champion Dutch crew will have targets on their backs after upsetting Australia in South Korea.

Josh Dunkley-Smith and Will Lockwood, silver medallists with Ginn in London, will again be together in a new four with Fergus Pragnell and Scott Laidler.
