Crowe's Noah sails past $US300 million

The global box office takings for Russell Crowe's biblical epic Noah has sailed past the $US300 million mark.

Russell Crowe's biblical epic Noah has scored a big Easter boost at the global box office, taking the film's sales past the $US300 million ($A322.67 million) mark.

Director Darren Aronofsky's retelling of the Great Flood saga opened last month and has already become the fourth top-grossing film of the year.

It trails Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($US585.6 million), The Lego Movie ($US441.7 million) and 300: Rise of an Empire ($US329.1 million).

It's also Aronofsky's biggest-grossing film to date.
