Crows captain injured in AFL trial win

Adelaide captain Taylor Walker has concern over a hamstring injury after his side beat Brisbane by 39 points in their AFL pre-season game on Saturday.

Adelaide captain Taylor Walker will undergo tests on an injured hamstring after the 39-point victory against Brisbane in their AFL pre-season game.

Walker kicked three goals in the 1.20.13 (142) to 1.15.4 (103) win at Noarlunga, in Adelaide's south, but didn't feature after three-quarter time.

"He has got a little bit of hamstring tightness, which we will get looked at," Crows coach Don Pyke said.

Earlier, Walker helped Adelaide's feted forward line click in a convincing win against the Lions.

His fellow key forward Josh Jenkins was dominant with four goals plus a supergoal, marking target Mitch McGovern booted four majors and Eddie Betts three.

Ex-GWS utility Curtly Hampton gathered 26 disposals to press his claims to make a debut for the Crows in their premiership season opener against his former club on March 26.

Defender Andy Otten also firmed for a return to AFL premiership action for the first time since 2014 with a solid 19-disposal performance.

Otten, who has has overcome two knee reconstructions, was among a band of prolific ball-winners for the Crows including Rory Laird and Rory Atkins (30 disposals), Richard Douglas (27 touches, two goals) and Matt Crouch (25 possessions, nine tackles).

The Crows jumped Brisbane early, booting six of the initial eight goals to create a lead the Lions never threatened en route to the Crows' second win in three pre-season fixtures.

"As a whole block of games, it finished off our preparation well," Pyke said.

"It has been great to be able to give some guys some different opportunities in different roles ... we have got the right minutes into the right guys and I thought we played some really positive football."

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan took plenty of positives from his side's performance, despite the loss.

"In round 20 last year, the Crows beat Brisbane by 138 points and today they beat us by 39 points," Fagan said.

"So I think that is evidence of growth in lots of ways.

"We are all about getting better and improving and rising as a footy club and I thought there were some great signs today."

Newly-appointed Lions captain Dayne Beams was a standout with a game-high 35 disposals, Daniel Rich was also influential with 20 possessions and two goals while emerging forwards Eric Hipwood and Matthew Hammelmann both kicked two majors.
