Adelaide coach Don Pyke dismisses any need for outside help to rake over his club's failed AFL season.

His Crows have slid from losing a grand final to missing this year's finals - they're 12th entering this weekend's last round.

But he believes only "minor tweaking" is required to return them to the finals next season.

"We have got a reasonably clear picture (of what is needed)," Pyke said after Sunday's nine-point win against North Melbourne.

"I won't go into the details of what that looks like.

"But if I summarise the year, it has been one that has been a bit frustrating, a bit disappointing and ultimately we have come short of what we want to do, which is each year play in the finals.

"There's a variety of reasons behind that and they're the things we will assess."

Pyke ruled out calling an expert from outside his club to review Adelaide's season.

"I'm pretty comfortable where we're at internally ... the openness of our players, our coaches, in looking at our program," he said.

"From a (game) style viewpoint, that is well within our coaches' reach, I believe, to analyse that. That is what we get paid to do.

"And from a program viewpoint, I think it's a combination of factors around our strength, our conditioning, our skill work, all those things.

"Again, I'm confident that the people internally can assess those and I have got belief and trust in those people to get it done."
