Adelaide's AFLW premiership defence is in tatters after the Crows fought out a dramatic draw against Greater Western Sydney.

Adelaide were left to rue missed opportunities late in their rain-drenched encounter, with scores locked at 2.7 (19) to 2.7 (19) when the final siren sounded in Blacktown.

"You've just got to try and win them all (now)," Crows coach Bec Goddard said of her team's grand final chances.

"It feels like a loss because we really had the opportunity, I think, and the girls are really disappointed."

Adelaide are seventh with a 1-2-1 record with three rounds to play.

Round four saw a power shift in the women's game, with the Western Bulldogs emerging as new flag favourites after Brooke Lochland kicked a record seven goals in a 73-point demolition of Carlton.

Lochland unleashed a four-goal blitz in Friday night's second quarter and added another three after halftime in the 12.14 (86) to 2.1 (13) win in front of 8987 fans, who turned out to celebrate the league's inaugural Pride Game at Whitten Oval.

On a record-breaking night, the Bulldogs kicked the highest score in AFLW history and registered the largest winning margin.

No player had managed to kick five goals in a match in the fledgling league's history, with Lochland setting a new mark with her stunning return of 7.3.

"It's clearly our best (performance) ... I'm just rapt with how the girls went about it," Dogs coach Paul Groves said.

"They just played on instinct, they're just playing really good footy and I think (Lochland) is the biggest example of that at the moment."

The Bulldogs rocketed to the top of the ladder with the lopsided win with an imposing percentage of 200.

Last year's beaten grand finalists Brisbane are in second spot on percentage after they slogged their way to a seven-point win against Fremantle.

The Lions prevailed 3.4 (22) to 2.3 (15) in front of 1500 fans at a drenched South Pine Sports Complex on Saturday.

Collingwood broke through for their first win of the season, but remain on the bottom of the ladder.

The Pies came from behind to upset Melbourne 9.4 (58) to 3.6 (24) in stifling heat in Alice Springs.
